Updating Mac Passwords with NOMAD

NOMAD is an app that will sync the current Active Directory (AD) password back to the Mac, so that the local user account’s password is the same.

This article explains how to use NOMAD to remedy a situation in which a Mac user, having recently changed passwords, finds that their Mac only allows logins with the previously-set password.

 Instructions

  1. Locate the NOMAD icon in the upper right corner of the Finder.

    • If the icon is not there, launch NOMAD from the Applications folder, and then look again for the icon in the upper right corner.

  2. Choose Sign in from the NOMAD icon’s menu.

  3. Nomad will prompt for a username/password. Login with Hamilton username/password.

  4. NOMAD will then prompt for the Mac's password. This is the password currently used to log in to the Mac itself 9i.e. the local account).

  5. The passwords will sync. If successful, when clicking the Nomad icon on your taskbar your Sign-in button will change to Sign out.
