Unable to Sign into Blackboard, "authentication request has expired"

Summary

This article displays the error code that appears when a timeout request occurs on Blackboard and offers a solution: clearing cached images and files, as well as deleting browser cookies.

 Issue

You are unable to sign into Blackboard. All other Hamilton sign ins (email, My Hamilton, etc.) work fine. Upon signing in, you are presented with this or similar error:

 Resolution

This is highly likely to be a session error/timeout in the browser. To resolve, either purge the web browser's cache and cookies or open the site in a private/incognito browser tab or window.
