FTP (File Transfer Protocol) allows personal computers to connect to servers over the Internet and copy files to and from the server. LITS recommends using the Cyberduck FTP client. This article explains how to publish a Hamilton webpage using FTP.

Connecting to the Web Server
To connect to the web server, you will need to open a session in the FTP application on your personal computer, using the following values to "open a connection":

Cyberduck-specific Settings
If you are using Cyberduck for FTP, use these settings:
- FTP-SSL (Explicit AUTH TLS)
- workgroup.hamilton.edu
- Port 995
- hamilton-d\username (hamilton-s for students)

FileZilla-specific Settings
If you are using FileZilla for FTP, use these settings:
- workgroup.hamilton.edu
- Port 995
- FTP - File Transfer Protocol
- Require explicit FTP over TLS
- Logon Type: Normal
- hamilton-d\username (hamilton-s for students)

When using FTP, you must identify the domain (user group) you belong to along with your standard user name.

Employees: hamilton-d
Examples
1. A student named John Smith would sign in as: hamilton-s\jsmith
2. An instructor names Jane Roberts would log in as: hamilton-d\jroberts
Your Web password should be the same as your My Hamilton password and network password. If you do not know your password, you can Submit an Account Login Issues service request to request assistance.
Use this information to make your FTP connection, then navigate to your web space by double clicking on the folders shown in your FTP window.
