Windows users can connect to the web server using Windows networking. This action will make your web space appear as a drive on your personal computer. This way, you can copy+paste files and folders to and from the web server,  or edit them directly on the server, just as you do for other drives on your system.This article explains how to connect to the web server on a windows machine.

 Instructions

Map a Drive to Your Web Space

  1. Open File Explorer

  2. Right Click on This PC and select Map Network Drive...

  3. In the Folder field, type "\\canopus-fs.hamilton.edu\{Server Name}\{Folder Name}" and click Finish.

  4. {Server Name} is the name of the server that you wish to connect to and should be one of the following:

  • students

  • people

  • courses

  • academics

  1. {Folder Name} is the sub-folder that you wish to connect to, i.e, the web space you wish to edit.

    • For example, if you wish to edit the https://academics.hamilton.edu/Biology site, you will navigate to: \\canopus-fs.hamilton.edu\academics\Biology

  2. The folder will now appear as a shared drive and is accessible from My Computer and Windows Explorer.
