What is the Student Storage Server (SSS)?
The Student Storage Server provides each Hamilton College student with 400MB of storage space accessible from any networked computer on campus and any off-campus computer with an Internet connection.
What do most students use the SSS for?
Most students utilize their SSS space to keep essential documents like term papers, resumes, lab reports, and PowerPoint presentations.
Why use the SSS when I can just use a USB drive?
The SSS offers the same convenience as a USB drive, but with enhanced security. Your files on the SSS are backed up every night. Additionally, anti-virus software keeps the SSS free from viruses.
OK, I’m convinced, how do I set up my computer to use the SSS?
There are two ways to access your SSS: mapping a network drive on your Windows computer or creating a shortcut on your Macintosh.
Once I’ve gotten the SSS set up on my computer, how do I use it?
Using the SSS is similar to using a removable drive. Instead of saving a document to your hard drive, you'll save it to your mounted SSS folder.
