Attachment Limits in Gmail

Summary

This article discusses the 25MB attachment limit imposed by Google on all Gmail accounts.

Body

Gmail's attachment size limit is 25 MB per email. This limit applies to the total amount of all attachments used in the message. If this limit is exceeded here are the ramifications:

  • If you attempt to attach a file that's larger than 25 MB, Gmail will automatically insert a Google Drive link to the file(s) instead.

  • If you attempt to scan files to email using one of the departmental Kyocera copiers, finished scans that exceed 25MB in size will appear to send, but will never reach their destination. The copier has no capability to warn of this error. If this occurs, try breaking up the scan job into smaller chunks of pages.
