Attachment Limits in Gmail

Summary

This article discusses the 25MB attachment limit imposed by Google on all Gmail accounts.

Body

Gmail allows attachments up to 25 MB per email. This limit includes the total size of all attachments in the message.

If you go over this limit, here’s what happens:

  • If you try to attach a file larger than 25 MB, Gmail will automatically add a Google Drive link to the file(s) instead.

  • If you scan files to email using a departmental Kyocera copier, scans over 25 MB will seem to send but won’t reach the recipient. The copier cannot alert you to this issue. If this happens, try splitting the scan into smaller groups of pages.
