Installing, Configuring, and using Cisco Jabber

The Cisco Jabber Client is the phone software used by Hamilton College to enable remote phone capabilities. These instructions are for installing, configuring, and using the Cisco Jabber Client.

 You must be connected to Hamilton's VPN service for the software to work off campus. You will not be able to make or receive calls using the software unless the VPN connection is established.

 Instructions

Installing Cisco Jabber

  1. Download the CiscoJabberSetup.msi file.

  2. Click Download

  3. You will then be shown a warning by Google. Click Download Anyway.

  1. Run the installer you just downloaded, CiscojabberSetup.msi

  2. The installer will open with some important notices and disclaimers. Click Accept and Install.

  1. Windows or Mac User Account Control should ask you to approve the installation

  2. Once the installation has finished, leave the installer and open the application.

Configuring Cisco Jabber

  1. Click Advanced Settings

  2. For account type select Cisco Communications Manager 9 or later. For login server select User the following server and input cucm2.hamilton.edu.

  1. Click save

  2. Input your email address and click continue

  3. You will then see a screen with just your username inputted. Enter your Hamilton password and click Sign In.

  4. A pop-up window will appear, asking you to verify the certificate because it is not valid. Although we usually advise you to be extra cautious about these types of alerts, in this case, the certificate is trusted, and you must click 'Accept' to continue.

  1. Click accept, and the application will start

Using the Cisco Jabber Client

Once logged in to the jabber client, you will be able to do the following and more:

  1. View your profile and log out of the application

  2. View call history and make calls

  3. View voicemails

  4. Make setting changes
