Issue
While on campus, a Hamilton-barcoded machine is failing to display one or more network drives that were previously accessible. Anyone attempting to view their network drives while off-campus must be connected to VPN first.
Resolution
Network drives mount during the computer's start-up process.
On Windows, a group policy determines which drives should be mounted for the logged-in account. If this policy fails to run, the drives will not mount. Restarting the computer should fix the issue. If a user is still unable to view their network drives after restarting their machine, they can remap their network drive.
On a Mac, it may be necessary to mount existing drives again using the steps below:
Accessing ESS On-Campus - Macintosh
-
From the Macintosh desktop, select Go and then Connect to Server.
-
Enter "ess" as the server address, then select Connect.
-
Under Select the volumes to mount, choose Users from the window (or, if applicable, Campus or Departments), then select OK.
-
Locate the folder you wish to connect to. As long as you have the appropriate rights, you can now copy files to the desired space.
