Finding the IP Address on your Device

This article walks through simple ways to discover the IP address of a device for troubleshooting purposes. Click on one of the shortcuts below for your device:

 Instructions

 Android

  Due to the large variety of Android devices available and variance between software and interfaces, there may be differences between the instructions below and the procedure for a specific device. If these instructions do not work, consult the manufacturer’s own documentation.

  1. Pull down the notification bar from the top and tap the gear-shaped Settings button.

  2. Navigate to Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.

  3. Tap the network you re connected to and the look for IP address, which may be labeled as "IP address" or "IPv4 address."
     

 iOS

  1. Open Settings and go to Wi-Fi.

  2. Tap the info () next to the network you are connected to.

  3. Scroll down to IPv4 or IP Address.

 MacOS

  1. Click the Apple icon on the upper left corner of the screen and go to System Settings.

  2. Select Network and select the Internet connection in the left task bar (Ethernet or Airport/Wi-Fi). You'll find the IP address listed under status.

 Windows

  1. Right click over the start button () and choose Run.

  2. In the space next to Open, erase anything that is there and type: cmd

  3. Click OK.

  4. In the window that opens, type the following ipconfig /all and hit enter on your keyboard.

    • The IP address is on the line labeled IPv4 Address. It will look something like 150.209.7.162.

  5. To close this window, click the  in the upper right corner or type Exit and hit enter on your keyboard.
