Error "Bad parameter" in Adobe Acrobat when Making Document Searchable

 Issue

When attempting to make a PDF searchable in Adobe Acrobat via the Scan & OCR tool, you receive an dialog box indicating a “bad parameter” error.

 Cause(s)

This error occurs usually when the document is overly complex (ie, layout, images etc).

 Resolution

One possible solution is to remove the accessibility tags from the document:

1. Go to View menu and select Show/Hide >> Navigation Panes > Tags.

2. Click on Tags panel.

3. Right click on Tags and choose Delete Tags, this will remove all the tags.

4. Re-run the “Recognize” function on the document.
