Setting Up Google Mail for iOS devices

This article explains how to install the Gmail app and use it to access your Hamilton email account on an iPhone or iPad. It also covers adding your Hamilton account to Apple's built-in Mail app instead, if you prefer not to use the Gmail app. Your Hamilton email is a Google account, so you will choose Google wherever you are asked for an account type.

We recommend the Gmail app over Apple Mail because Google builds it specifically for its own services, so features like labels, search, and account security prompts work as intended.

 Instructions

  2. Scroll down and tap Apps.
  3. Tap Mail.
  4. Tap Mail Accounts.
  5. Tap Add Account.
  6. Enter your full Hamilton email address (username@hamilton.edu) and tap Next. If you are shown a list of email providers, tap Google.
  7. On the Google sign-in screen, enter your Hamilton password and tap Next.
  8. Complete the 2-Step Verification prompt you are shown.
  9. On the next screen, make sure Mail is turned on. You can also turn on Contacts and Calendars if you want them to sync.
  10. Tap Save.
  11. Open the Mail app. Your Hamilton inbox will appear under your accounts. The first sync may take a few minutes.
