Enabling CrashPlan Permissions on Macs

Summary

This article provides step by step instructions for allowing Full Disk Access on a Mac computer.

Body

Apple privacy restrictions on more recent operating systems require administrators to grant permissions for full disk access on their Mac computers.  Without this access, CrashPlan cannot back up some files from folders like the user's Desktop, Documents, and Downloads. The user only needs to grant full disk access once.

 Instructions

  1. Navigate to your Mac's System Settings.

  2. Scroll to find the Privacy & Security tab and click it.

  3. Click on Full Disk Access.

  4. Find CrashPlan in the list and toggle the switch to on.

  5. Enter your credentials to allow the change. CrashPlan will need to quit and reopen to process the change.
